Busy week this week so I just have a few observations to share:
I truly believe there has to be a special place in hell for the travelers under the age of 80 on planes who insist on pulling on the seatback in front of them to help them stand up midflightâŠ.and then lean on that seatback as they sit back downâŠ.especially if they do this multiple times during a tripâŠ.has human mobility atrophied to the point that we cannot even rise a few inches from a seated position without assistance?
I donât care who you are or what you have accomplished in your life â spend more than two days with your siblings as an adult and all of that can be wiped out in about 5 seconds by a well timed story or memory from one of your worst or embarrassing moments growing up. To them youâll always be that kid that puked on the Flying Saucer ride at Disney or accidentally knocked over Momâs birthday cake and made it flip upside down, lit candles and all, into dog đ© or were the reason Dad slammed on the brakes so hard everyone got whiplash as he pulled the station wagon over on the highway to yell at everyone because you convinced your little sister to hold up signs to passing cars that said âPlease pick your noseâ and âHonk if you like poopâ and âWhereâs The Beef?â
Every worthwhile deal gets to a point where it almost falls apart just before it closes.
I am constantly reminded that people are suckers for a good, well told story â especially if it is one from which they can find even an ounce of inspiration.
If you donât have a personal âboard of advisorsâ to turn to when you need help making big, important life decisions, especially one with a STFU person, you are doing it wrong.
Short and sweet this week. If you are looking for something constructive to do now that I cut this preamble short, think about maybe getting some friends and family to check out the FoD and subscribe. We could always use more FoDs.
Also â if you are reading this on a corporate email account, consider also subscribing with a gmail or other personal email address. Been seeing an uptick in corporate email addresses, even those that are regularly opening the emails, lately getting bounced. You wonât want miss out on the funâŠ.
March Madness in full swing â brackets are already bustingâŠ.hereâs to them not being yours. Have a good one!
XOXO
Dave
And now a few things to make you smarterâŠ
Happiness, like love, is perhaps one of the least understood and most sought-after emotions and experiences in human life.
And while many inspiring teachings exist about attaining individual happiness, itâs worthwhile to consider how happy entire countries are on a collective scale. Here is a visualization of the findings from the World Happiness Report 2024, an enduring attempt to measure, quantify, and compare happiness levels around the world, sourcing data from Gallup.
âAnyone can steer the ship when the sea is calm. â
We tend to measure performance by what happens when things are going well. Yet how people, organizations, companies, leaders, and other things do on their best day isnât all that instructive. To find the truth, we need to look at what happens on the worst day.
Tropical atolls, distant hikes and hot springs, and wild jungles and mountaintops lure adventurous travelers to these beautiful far flung spots
Autonomous drones in Virginia will fly 65 mph while holding Bacanotors, Frosties, and other items from Wendyâs before gently dropping them onto the front lawn of a customer.
Ambition is like mass. The more you have, the stronger your gravitational pull.Â
Name your ambition. Make it big, something worthy of your unique talents. Approach the chaos of change with the clarity of purpose. Donât let the machines take your job; put them to work for you.Â
This thought provoking piece, shared by FoD Jimmy Suppelsa, advocates that you spend the time to figure out the most ambitious thing you could dream of doing with your life.Â
