Friends, I am just going to say it: I’m sick and tired.
No, I’m not going to rant here.
I’m like literally 🤧 and 🥱.
My entire family has been battling various stages of a cold the last week or so and not sleeping well. And on top of it, I have been busy running around, tying up a bunch of loose ends with work before the year is complete.
And we have the holidays and all that goes along with that.
And I have this preamble to write…..when honestly, no offense Friends, I’d rather just be in a comfy bed.
What would you do?
You soldier on.
Sure, you maybe slow down a little, take some some time for a little self-care, but you keep moving.
Colds come and go — everyone gets them. In a few days, you’ll feel better.
Sleep? That will come…eventually.
But right now, you do what you can with what you’ve got. You soldier on.
Maybe not at full speed, maybe not even at half speed, but you keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Because let’s face it: life doesn’t pause when you’re under the weather.
The work deadlines, the holiday prep, the endless “to-dos” and the weekly preambles all keep coming. And yeah, it’s exhausting.
But here’s the thing — you’re still here, still showing up, still doing your best. And that counts for something.
But be smart. This isn’t the time to try and do it all.
Scale back.
Focus on the essentials.
Wrap one gift, answer one email, make one phone call, write a few sentences.
You’re not slacking—you’re prioritizing.
It’s okay to hit pause on the less important stuff. You’re not failing. You’re human.
Got out of bed today? 👍
Made it through a day of work? 🙌
Managed to keep the house from total chaos? 🙌 🙌
Write a preamble about it? 🙌 🙌 🙌
Those small victories are proof you’re still moving forward, no matter how tired or sniffly you feel.
Right now, it feels never-ending. But in a few days, the cold will fade.
You’ll start to feel like yourself again, and not feel like 💩.
But right now, you just have to keep going, one small step at a time.
So, Friends, are you sick and tired too? Let’s soldier on together.
We’re still showing up. And that’s enough. 💪
XOXO
Dave
And now a few things to make you smarter…

Notre Dame Cathedral reopened on December 7th, 2024, welcoming visitors for the first time since the 2019 fire.
