Friends of Dave #52: Forgiveness....
....Is More Than Saying 'Sorry'.....
It's holiday time, Friends of Dave. Time for spending time with loved ones, reflecting on the past year, appreciating the blessings we have, and celebrating the departure of the Elf on the Shelf.
It is also time for movie watching. No, not cheesy Hallmark Channel holiday movie watching. I'm talking about the classic holiday movies -- the ones you can watch every year and they never get old.
Sure, A Christmas Story and It's a Wonderful Life are well established staples that everyone knows. But here is a list of 7 of my personal favorite (and a few not-so-obvious) Christmas movies that you definitely should try to rent or stream during your holiday downtime (in no particular order):
FRIENDS OF DAVE RECOMMENDED HOLIDAY MOVIE LIST
Just Friends: Of all of these, probably least known. But sneaky good.
Trading Places: Most forget it's Christmas themed. Beef jerky time!
Bad Santa: I can't concentrate if it's not on when I am wrapping gifts.
Office Christmas Party: New entry. Has potential to grow on me.
Elf: Quickly becoming a quotable classic the entire family can watch.
Better Off Dead: Not 100% Christmas movie, but classic '80s flick.
Die Hard: For those times when you have a little too much family time, John McClane is the answer.
Check out this week's gems I've included if you have some time -- nothing too heavy. Next week will be the year end recap issue where I'll share the most clicked on stories of the year. In the meantime, best to you and your families. Happy holidays, Friends.
XOXO
Dave

Everyone in the world should be taxed on their energy footprint — aeon.co
An energy footprint-based tax system would accelerate our transition to a regenerative economy and help us fight climate change.
Interesting point of view on how we as a global community can address global climate change head on.

I generally stay away from politics in this newsletter, but I found this post by Josh Brown kind of thought provoking in a Philip Roth, "Plot Against America" sort of way.

“Somewhere along the way, we befriended the entire brony community,” he explained, as much as something like a community of adults who are (un)ironically into the children’s show My Little Pony can be explained. Apparently, a JetBlue customer sent the main account a “brohoof” emoji, a sort of fist bump of the male fan community. And JetBlue sent one back.
Welcome to the new realities of customer service and customer experience.
