Here's Over 167 bits of Unsolicited AdviceA while back I shared an article where the author offered 68 bits of unsolicited advice on his 68th birthday. It ended up being one of the most clicked on articles ever.I recently learned that the same author, perhaps emboldened by the fact that he was able to get a bunch of people to click on his previous post, upped the ante and offered 99 additional bits of unsolicited advice. If you do nothing else, you could click on these two links this week and be extremely satisfied. It's like I just delivered you 167 fortune cookies. That all said, I am pretty good at offering unsolicited advice from time to time myself. So not to be outdone, here are a few of my own bits for you:-- Go to settings and turn off notifications on all social media apps on your phone right now. Your life will improve immediately.-- Remind a new parent you know: "Little people, little problems. Bigger people, bigger problems." It can help them keep things in perspective, especially during those early days when things seem so hard.-- The amount of f**ks you give about what others think goes down exponentially after age 40. By age 80, it should be damn near zero.-- Write a good teacher you know a hand written note thanking them for what they do. They don't get paid enough to do it.-- Own (or lease) a convertible car at least once in your life.-- People want to be lead. They do not want to be bossed. They know the difference.-- Grill corn on the cob in the husks for 35 min on indirect heat (turn them over once during that time). Let cool for 15 minutes. De-husk and rinse thoroughly before serving. -- Remind a new teenage driver to put the car in park before they attempt to exit the vehicle.-- Putting ice in coffee is like putting ketchup on steak. This may be unpopular with some of you, but I stand by it.-- Music is a time machine. It's amazing how, no matter where you are, hearing the right old song can instantly take you back to when you heard it for the first time. That's it from me for now. If you have any good, quick bits of advice please pass them along -- I'll share them with the other FoDs in an upcoming issue.Hard to believe that next weekend is Memorial Day Weekend here in the US -- the unofficial start of the summer already! We'll have our usually mid-year recap of the most popular articles you may have missed. In the meantime, there's some good stuff for you to check out this week below. Have a great one.XOXODave
