Telling Stories is FunBefore we get into this week's intro, thought I would mention I received some good feedback on the intro from last week, Friends. Much appreciated. Glad to see my occasional rants and observations are entertaining many of you.As you can tell, I enjoy writing and telling stories. There is something about using words to paint a picture and make a connection with other people that brings me joy. Funny, in a weird way I guess it is sort of like my hobby of making omelettes (which I have written about here in the past). For me, I suppose omelettes are kind of like preambles you happen to eat for breakfast....This week I had a chance to tell more stories by being a guest on a podcast. Needless to say, for those of you who enjoy telling stories, podcasting is a convenient way to get a cheap fix. Many of you know I have recorded my own Friends of Dave podcasts in the past, and they are always a fun extension of this newsletter. Sort of an audio version of the preambles here, but with subscribers interacting with me. I have a great time doing them and really enjoy the banter with the guests (that is your cue to click on the link above and go back and check out past episodes, btw). The biggest issue is that they can take a lot of time to edit and produce -- so I have sort of put these on hold for now. That said, for those of you who have something unique and entertaining you want to share, I could be coaxed back into the host seat....Back to the story: I recently reconnected with FoD Terry Chiu on LinkedIn as he is looking to launch his latest endeavor -- the "Digital Ventures Podcast". Terry is a fascinating guy. We met a number of years ago when I was working with a lending startup and he was a creative consultant we had working for us in Manchester, UK.Since then, Terry has gone on to launch a number of different ventures and even wrote a book entitled "The Parent Entrepreneur." What I have always admired about Terry is that he doesn't just come up with interesting ideas -- he has the courage to take a risk, go a step further and just execute on his vision. You just have to respect someone like Terry who isn't afraid to hustle. In addition to being an author, an entrepreneur, a hustler and a skilled marketing guru, Terry also happens to be an engaging podcast host. Many of you may even recall that I had guested on a previous podcast he produced and we had a blast.So when he put out a call for potential guests who might like to tell stories about innovation and disrupting established industries, I jumped at the chance to volunteer. We recorded my episode this past week and, once again, it was a lot of fun. Effortless (took less than an hour), entertaining discussion that covered a lot of ground, produced some food for thought and generated a bunch of laughs. Stay tuned for when it drops in a few weeks.Honestly, I know podcasts might not be a big thing for most of you, but they are so easy to produce these days (essentially they can be as simple as recording a video conference meeting) -- go on one if you can (and if you do, let me know so I can promote it here). Friends, trust me you absolutely have a compelling story to tell and I guarantee you that there are people in the world who want to hear it. Don't be afraid to get it out there -- you'll find it to be rewarding and might actually have some fun telling stories yourself!In the meantime, as you ponder what the potential title will be for your own podcast, definitely check out the articles below this week.
